Report Highlights

With fast social and economy development and the maturing of network communication technology and electronics technology, informatization in cities in China has been gradually gathering pace. Informatization building and application have received wide attention from cities around the country. Urban informatization is a logic requirement for pushing urban economic growth and rationally guiding urbanization work. It is an important way to achieve sustainable urban development. It is also an important foundation for realizing urban internationalization.

The year 2008 was a key year for informatization in cities in China. In 2008, we release the 2008-2009 Annual Report on the Informatization Development of China's Cities, which is the first research report to evaluate the urban informatization comprehensively. .
* The first section of the Report gives introduction to the urban informatization development in our country and the evaluation system for their informatization levels; the second section gives introduction to urban informatization achievements and the rankings; the third section summarizes lessons learned in the urban’ informatization and development and makes prediction on future trends.
* The evaluation data in the Report involves about thirty indicators includes seven aspects in urban informatization development, with evaluation targets covering all the cities under direct jurisdiction of the central government, provincial capitals, cities specifically designated in the state plan and prefecture-level cities.
* The "11th Five-year Plan" is a pivotal period for urban informatization development, and builders and participants in informatization in various cities need to have a comprehensive understanding of the development direction and priorities in our urban informatization. The Report makes an overall analysis of the opportunities in our urban informatization development and addresses the tough issues confronting the informatization builders in their actual operation.
