In 2008, the international crude oil market underwent major ups and downs. Under the impact of the global financial crisis, international crude oil prices plunged. In 2008, product oil was cheaper than crude oil in China, oil refiners suffered heavy losses. There was relative over-supply in the domestic market.
Chinese petroleum and petrochemical enterprises actively respond to the nation's call for promoting informatization among central enterprises and pillar enterprises. As a result, informatization has maintained rapid development.
