In 2008, the central enterprises has made significant achievements in informatization, many of them are at the forefront of enterprise informatization in the country, which laid a foundation for intensive and extensive implementation of informatization. With restructuring and reorganization and the speed-up of their going public, these central enterprises are required to increasingly improve their operation and management level and business execution efficiency, effectively integrate a host of heterogeneous information systems, improve the efficiency in data exchange, information sharing and business processing between systems so as to enhance the information systems' service and support capabilities for enterprises' business and management, therefore, informatization application is an inevitable road that central enterprises must take.

With the global financial crisis intensifying, central enterprises are expected to face a more competitive market environment. How to adapt to the environment where opportunities and risks coexist is a question worthy of serious consideration by these enterprises. To success in this competition that is full of opportunities, apart from continuously stepping up reform efforts, increasing investment in infrastructure development, and improving management system, the central enterprises should also funnel more investment into informatization development, uplift their overall operation efficiency and timeliness and effectiveness in decision-making, make "informatization" an effective tool in scientific decision-making in central enterprises, and upgrade their core competitiveness in the cutthroat competition.
