Report Summary

January through December in 2004, the production value of automotive trade reached 1101.009 billion (RMB), which was 17.49% higher than that of 2003; products sales revenue reached 1084.955 billion (RMB), 16.88% higher than that of 2003; the total profit reached 71.985 billion (RMB), 5.95% lower than that of 2003; sales profit rate was 6.63%, 1.62% lower than that of 2003.  A clear fact was that the growth of output and production value had been significantly slowed down, and at the same time, the profit growth was minus, which could be attributed to the sharp price fluctuation of raw materials and energy sources. 

In 2004, some changes took place on the factors that affected China's automotive market, in both positive and negative ways.  To put it simply, negative factors outperformed positive ones.  Consequently the automotive market in 2004 drastically declined. 

In 2005, the development environment of China's automotive market will be considerably modified and some rectifications will come along in the market, thereby automotive manufacturers and organizations concerned will keep close watch upon the progress.
