Report Highlights

In 2008, China's civil aviation industry underwent reshuffling. In the beginning of the year, crude oil futures prices hit a record high of 147 USD. As the US sub-prime lending crisis escalated, in December crude oil futures prices fell to some 40 USD. Volatile oil prices had huge impact on the civil aviation industry. Meanwhile, the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games created immense opportunities for airline companies. However, the soaring oil prices at the time impaired airline companies' profit margin. Although crude oil futures prices plummeted at the end of the year, oil prices did not follow suit immediately. Meanwhile, the US sub-prime lending crisis is deepening. Chinese airline enterprises are limping alone. Reorganization and M&A take place between civil aviation enterprises from time to time. As China increases investment in transport infrastructure, significant headways will be made in the development of civil airports.

Air China, China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines have become China's leading airline companies. However, with the entry of private enterprises and foreign enterprises, competition has escalated in China's civil aviation industry. Meanwhile, due to their poor performance in the past few years, airline companies have high liability ratios. It is difficult for them to finance their future transport capacity growth on their own.
In the face of competitions as well as market changes and challenges, the 2008-2009 Annual Report on China's Civil Aviation Transport Market released by us will help vendors, industry insiders and investors grasp more accurately laws governing the market's development and comb the development track of application value.
