Report Highlights

The aerospace industry is a strategic leading industry. The global aerospace market is worth hundreds of billion US dollars, and it is growing by some 10% annually. In recent years, China has been increasing investment in the field. An array of policies for encouraging the industry's development have been introduced and carried out. In 2006, the output value of China's spacecraft and aerocraft industry came to 82,801 million yuan. In 2007, gross industrial output value rose 8.7% to 90 billion yuan. In 2007, China unveiled the Aircraft Project and successfully launched Chang'e 1 Lunar Orbiting Spacecraft. ARJ21-700, which is the first new branch aircraft with Chinese proprietary intellectual property, was introduced. Shenzhou-7 will be launched in 2008. All these will further promote the expedited development of China's aerospace industry.

China's aerospace industry faces major opportunities and holds significant growth potential. There is an urgent need to marketize the industry. The 2008 Olympic Games and Expo 2010 will pave the way for the rapid development of the industry, fueling demand for civil aircraft. Demand for general aircraft is expected to reach 6,000-7,000 in 2015, and in the next 20 years China's civil aviation sector needs to add more than 2,800 passenger aircraft and over 400 cargo aircraft.
