In 2007, China's highway transport market grew fast. Goods transport volume and passenger transport volume grew by 12.2% and 11.1% respectively.
Thanks to a favorable macroeconomic environment and a strong market demand, the highway transport industry continued to maintain a momentum of fast growth. As the primary transport means, highway continued to carry 91.84% of the passenger transport volume and 73.29% of the goods transport volume. However, due to rising oil prices, the highway transport industry also faced huge pressures.

As on the policy side, the State continued to improve the highway transport layout and planning. The Ministry of Communication released the National Highway Transport Hub Layout Plan. Local and regional enthusiasm for building expressway was unabated, with various investment plans introduced. Rural highway construction continued to attract attention. At the enterprise level, thanks to a good macro environment, all listed companies achieved good operating performances.
