Report Summary
Formic acid and formate are added in feed as acidulating agent and antiseptic.
Formate such as calcium formate is added in formula feed directly in stead of
liquid formic acid for its corrosivety to metal except equipped with special
acid adding equipment in feed plant. Calcium formate will not destroy the
nutrients of feed such as vitamin because it appears neutrality in feed.
Calcium formate has good fluidity and no deliquescence and no pungent tasting.
Liquid formic acid is added in silage usually for its acidity.
