Report Highlights

Throughout 2007, global coal prices kept on rising. Global coal consumption continued to outpace total energy consumption. The percentage of coal in the global energy consumption structure gradually rises. Meanwhile, as global crude oil prices are expected to remain high, the price gap between and crude oil will narrow accordingly. There will be a big room for international coal prices to rise.

In 2007, China changed from a new coal exporter to a new coal importer. The growing rise in coal demand, the closure of some coal enterprises and the increase in production cost pushed up the continuous rise in domestic coal price.

At the end of 2007, the National Development and Reform Commission released the Coal Industry Policies. Analysis of the relevant policies shows that outstanding enterprises will further improve their competitiveness. The accelerated building of big coal enterprise groups is helpful to changing the current situation of disorderly competitions. It will improve the sustainable development ability of the industry.

Changes in coal supply are expected to bring a new pattern to China's coal market. Affected by the supply austerity industry policies, coal supply in China will be tense in the next three years.

In the face of competitions as well as market changes and challenges, the Annual Report on the Development of China's Coal Industry released by our team will help enterprises, investors and industry persons to more accurately grasp the growth pattern of China's coal industry, and provide more detailed reference information for decision making:
