Report Highlights

The year 2007 held landmark significance for China's nuclear power industry. The State Council approved the Medium and Long-Term Planning for Nuclear Power (2005-2020) submitted by the State Development and Reform Commission, which points out the development direction of nuclear power. The National Nuclear Power Technology Corporation was set up in Beijing by the State Council and four state-owned enterprises including China National Nuclear Corporation, mainly engaged in the introduction and development of third-generation nuclear technology. China Guangdong Nuclear Power Corporation signed an 8-billion-euro nuclear power deal with France. Competition between France and the U.S. intensified in China's nuclear power market. At Jiangsu Tianwan Nuclear Power Station, two million-kilowatt-class nuclear units were connected to grid and started power generation. In 2007, construction of Liaoning Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Station started. A number of nuclear power projects including Fujian Fuqing Nuclear Power Station, Qingshan Nuclear Power Station, and the Second Phase of Ling'ao Nuclear Power Station got into the stage of practical operation. If China's teaming up with Westinghouse Electric at the end of 2006 was the preface to the development of nuclear power in China, 2007 was the start of the development of nuclear power in the real sense. Nuclear power will experience rapid development in China.

Massive development and domestic production will become key words for nuclear power in China. To fulfill the goal for 2020, China needs to set up at least two million-kilowatt-class nuclear units annually in the next 13 years, involving about 450 billion yuan. While increasing installed capacity, China hopes that domestic enterprises can design and manufacture nuclear power stations on their own, and homemade equipment should be used. This spells rare opportunities for investors, equipment manufacturers and research institutions.

our team releases 2007-2008 Annual Report on the Development of China's Nuclear Power Industry, which helps investors, equipment manufacturers and industry insiders gain deep insights into the present situation and development trend of the global and Chinese nuclear power industries and identify investment direction and enterprises' development direction:

In-depth, full and accurate industry data: The report introduces the size and structure of the global nuclear power industry, competition in the industry, and present situation of major nuclear power countries. Meanwhile, it depicts the present situation of China's nuclear power industry from the angle of industry environment, industry size and structure, profitability, investment in the industry, and the development of nuclear power in various provinces.

All-round and exhaustive analysis of competition and development trend of the industry: After describing the development of nuclear power technology, industry policy and nuclear power enterprises in China, it analyzes the development trend of China's nuclear power industry, and assesses the industry's competitiveness in the dimension of uranium exploitation and processing, nuclear power equipment manufacturing and nuclear power operation.

Recommendations for stakeholders in the industry: On the basis of surveys and analysis of the Chinese and international nuclear power industries, our team presents actionable recommendations for nuclear power enterprises, equipment suppliers and investors.
