The coal industry is an important foundation industry for China. Its sustainable development relates to the healthy development of China's national economy and its national energy security. At the end of November 2007, the National Development and Reform Commission released the Policies for the Coal Industry. Analysis of the relevant policies reveals that China will greatly adjust the structure of its coal industry, raise productivity and industry concentration, and establish capital-centered big coal enterprise groups. While setting coal enterprises' development pattern, the State also encourages group enterprises to carry out diversified operations, base on coal to develop products with high added values, extend the coal industry chain, improve their operational performance, implement the strategy of revitalizing the coal industry through technology, adopt advanced applicable technologies and high and new technologies, and promote industry optimization and upgrading.
The development pattern and trend in the coal industry have gradually become clear. Its informatization demand has also arisen. We think that coal enterprises' informatization building will mainly to establish solid safe coal production management platforms, and multi-level information support systems. To support management modernization, coal enterprises need to strengthen their management informatization. To achieve information connectivity, they need to fully strengthen information resources integration.
